Momvertising eCommerce Opps: Zulily launches holiday campaign amid spend decreases (Score 49)


Per Pathmatics, Zulily earned 1.4b impressions through Facebook ads (65%), Instagram ads (24%), desktop video ads (7%), desktop display ads (4%) and mobile display ads (1%). It placed the majority of these ads site direct (97%) onto sites such as,,, and It placed the remainder indirectly through Google Adx + AdSense and Verizon Media onto sites such as,,, and It spent around $10.9m on digital display ads over the last 365 days, down 64% from $17.9m spent during the 365 days prior. 

According to iSpot, Zulily spent around $12.3m on national TV ads YTD, less than half (46%) of the $27m spent during the same time period of 2019. Full-year spend equaled $33.7m in 2019 and $34.4m in 2018. This year, it placed ads during programming such as "Good Bones," "Primer impacto," "Home Town," "PAW Patrol" and "SpongeBob SquarePants." 

Sellers-- Zulily mainly targets Gen-Z and millennial moms through digital display and national TV ads. It decreased spend in both of these channels over the last year, which is likely due to cost-saving measures amid the coronavirus outbreak. Considering the company's target audience, the it may shift to primarily digital advertising in the future. Sellers should reach out soon offering relevant ad space to secure possible last-minute holiday campaign ad dollars.
