In Review: Biopharma giant Amgen reviewing media


 

We SSCG Media (healthcare pro media). 

Ark Advisors reportedly is managing the process, in which Amgen wants one media shop to handle planning and buying. Hopefully, media shops have been reaching out since last year to get in the review, because it's likely too late now. You never know though, I guess, so check in with decision makers. 

Sellers - with a new media shop likely taking over in the coming weeks, stay on MEC and in-house decision makers. They can either sign off on last minute deals or, at the very least, refer you to the new media AOR. We'll keep you posted as we learn more.

Last year, Prolia and Neulasta received much of Amgen's measured media support, according to Kantar Media. Since January, Prolia has spent $17.2 million on national TV ads, while Neulasta comes in at $38.7 million (see show targeting right). 

On the display front, year-to-date (YTD), Prolia has allocated $1 million towards 111 million impressions, most of which have been desktop video and desktop banners running direct on youtube.com, webmd.com and everydayhealth.com. 

Neulasta has spent $718,300 on almost 95 million impressions. Most of this has been desktop banners running direct on webmd.com, radaronline.com and medicinenet.com. 

Also, keep going after Enbrel, which rheumatoid arthritis drug has spent $49.3 million on national TV and $2.3 million on 250 million display impressions, according to iSpot.tv. and Pathmatics.
