It will also placed OOH ads in major cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Microsoft worked with creative AOR McCann on the creative for this push. This is the first update since Windows 10 was released in 2015. 

Per Pathmatics, Windows earned 527.1m impressions YTD through desktop video ads (63%), Facebook ads (18%), desktop display ads (14%), Twitter ads (3%) and mobile display ads (1%). It placed the majority (90%) of these ads site direct onto sites such as brainly.com, facebook.com, youtube.com, twitch.tv and reddit.com. It placed the remainder (10%) through a variety of indirect channels onto sites such as yahoo.com, genius.com, fandom.com, wow.gamepedia.com and finance.yahoo.com. It spent around $5.7m on digital display ads YTD, a 21% increase from $4.7m spent in this channel during the same time period of 2020. Full-year spend fell 26% from $12.2m in 2019 to $9m in 2020. 

Magellan estimates Windows placed around 240 podcast ads over the last year. 

According to iSpot, Windows spent around $1.5m on national TV ads YTD during "NFL Football" and "Get Up." It spent just $23.3k in this channel during the same time period of 2020. Full-year spend equaled $54.1k in 2019 and $61.9k in 2020. 

Sellers-- Windows appears to be targeting Gen-Z and millennial men through national TV and digital display ads. It has been increasing digital spend, which makes sense, considering digital ads are normally effective at reaching its target audience. I believe it only invests in national TV ads for big campaigns to promote new offerings like Windows 11. It also invests in print, OOH and local broadcast TV ads, per Kantar. Sellers should reach out soon to offer last-minute campaign ads space. 

Agency & martech readers-- Microsoft works with creative AOR Kovert Creative. I see no signs pointing towards a potential review. Readers will likely have better luck looking for work elsewhere for the time being.
